Q. WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING TO EVERY PRACTICE AND GAME?

ANS.  The essentials that every player must bring to every practice and game are:

  • Any Prescription Medicine (inhaler, epinephrine pen, etc.)
  • Water (canteen or bottle)
  • Protective Cup (boys)
  • Baseball Pants
  • Baseball Cap
  • Fielder's Glove
  • Cleats (plastic)
  • Tennis Shoes
Team bats and helmets are included. You will need to purchase a fielder's glove, plastic cleats (no metal spikes, except at the Juniors and Seniors divisions), and baseball pants for your player. Every pre-season we distribute coupons to our parents from Dick's Sporting Goods to save 20% on your store purchases. Be on the lookout for these coupons in March and August.

As part of our Arm Care Program, we strongly recommend that parents purchase Junior J-Bands for their little leaguer ages eight (8) to twelve (12), and standard J-Bands for players 13 and older.

Q. WHAT DAYS AND TIMES ARE THE PRACTICES AND GAMES?

ANS.  Baseball games are typically on Saturdays. Girls Softball games are typically on Sunday afternoons.

Practices are typically held on weekdays, with the specific day, time, and location determined by the availability of the parent volunteers coaching each team. The team's practice schedule is based on their bandwidth and commitment to supporting the team.

Q. I DO NOT HAVE A BASEBALL BACKGROUND, CAN I STILL VOLUNTEER?

ANS.  Absolutely! Banneker City Little League is a 100% volunteer-driven organization. We do not have any paid positions—making our volunteers the lifeblood of our organization. To encourage participation, we charge a $50 non-volunteer fee, which can be waived by giving your time to the league.

No prior experience is necessary to get involved—your willingness to donate your time is what qualifies you. We provide all the training, equipment, and apparel you need to succeed in your role. We're always looking for dedicated individuals to serve as Umpires, Coaches, or assist with fundraising, field preparation, and planning league events.

Q. HOW DO I REQUEST A REFUND?

ANS.  By sending an e-mail with the subject, "Refund Request," to our Treasurer, and copy in our Player Agent. Please provide your child's full name, age, and the applicable BCLL division in your e-mail.

 BANNEKER CITY'S REFUND POLICY

If a player who has paid the season’s registration fee decides not to participate, a refund can be issued upon written request, minus a $25 administrative fee.

Please note that registration fees are non-refundable once a player has received their uniform or after the first scheduled game of the season.

Late Fees Are Non Refundable.

Q. MY CHILD HAS NEVER PLAYED BASEBALL. WILL IT BE TOO HARD FOR THEM?

ANS.  Not at all! Banneker City Little League is a recreational program designed to accommodate players of all skill levels, including beginners. Our coaches and volunteers are committed to creating a supportive and encouraging environment where every child can learn, grow, and have fun while developing their skills at their own pace.

Q. I HAVE REGISTERED, WHEN WILL I BE CONTACTED BY THE TEAM MANAGER?

ANS.  Teams will be formed and assigned in early-March (Spring season), and late-August (Fall season). Once all managers and coaches are approved by the League President and confirmed by the Board of Directors, they will begin contacting their players. If you have questions before then, please contact your child's divisional commissioner for more information.

Q. WHAT IS THE PLAYER EVALUATION?

ANS.  Player Evaluations are required by Little League International for all players league age 8 and older—Baseball players who turn 8 on or before August 31st and Girls Softball players who turn 8 on or before December 31st—to ensure proper insurance coverage and Little League International participation eligibility in Banneker City Little League.

These evaluations occur annually before the Spring season, where players participate in a series of drills designed to assess their athletic abilities and baseball skills. Attendance at at-least one Player Evaluation session is mandatory for all applicable, registered players in Banneker City Little League. Every player will be assigned to a team regardless of their skill level or performance during Player Evaluations.
